2 months of running PRs

I had reached a plateau in my running and weight loss. I decided that I needed to kick up my training and I joined 24 hour fitness. I picked up a 10 pack of training sessions, which turned out to be one of the best things that I ever purchased. A few weeks later, I met with Tom Jensen, one of the trainers at the Fort Collins, CO 24 hour fitness.

I told Tom that I wanted to slim down some and work on increasing my speed for running races. He worked with me and developed a great program that worked on many aspects to improve my running efficiency and tone down. Tom worked on a cardio base and showed me a large variety of workouts to help my running. Later we built on the cardio base with some weights.

I quickly saw great results and I started to lose weight again. My running also started to get faster. Halfway through our training I took a week off from training as I traveled to California to run a team relay. My racing speeds were drastically improved and my running confidence reached new levels as I saw definite returns from my training. I ended up running some of my fastest times during the relay.

When I returned to my training I felt invigorated. Tom worked with me further to reach my goals. At the end of my 10 sessions with Tom, I had lost over 15 pounds of fat and gained some muscle mass. During my training I had set 2 new personal bests on both the marathon and 10K distances. In May I shaved 27 minutes off my marathon personal best to finally go under 4 hours. I also improved my 10K best by almost 5 minutes.

I continued my workouts after my training with Tom was completed. By following his training plan, I have lost 10 additional pounds and I have set records on my 5K and half marathon times. The time I spent training with Tom was invaluable experience that has really helped me mentally and physically. I know that with his guidance I will hit my ultimate goals of losing another 15 pounds and qualifying for the Boston Marathon. Thanks a million Tom!
