ruth wiley

ruth is fighting an auto-immune disorder.

Ruth Wiley has always had an autoimmune disorder - a condition in which the body attacks itself. But when she reached a point where both her hearing and breathing were getting weaker, her doctor suggested changes in her diet and exercise. She joined 24 Hour Fitness, got a trainer, and “felt a drastic improvement in just two weeks.” She says the hardest thing about getting in shape was, “....maintaining the discipline to do the things I knew I HAD to do to make my body work with me and not against me.” Her health continued to improve, and she re-enrolled in school. These days, she’s enjoying the boost in confidence that getting in shape has given her, and continues to do well. Asked what one piece of advice she’d give other people, “Never give up and never stop believing in the power of
change!”

Story Comments

Hi Ruth,
I was diagnosed with a connective tissue disease 10 years ago, which is considered an auto immune disease. I was in such bad shape I could not stand on my feet for more than a few minutes. I have healed almost completely from this now, and my story is a bit lengthy but I thought the mental process was really important.
Keep up the good work and great attitude and I believe the less you identify with owning this disease, the more you will allow your mind and body to identify with your complete healing.
