darryl morabito

darryl went from 430 pounds to cycling instructor.

Darryl Morabito paints a pretty grim picture of himself a few years ago at 430 pounds: “Stagnant job, no activity, and friends that liked to eat at the all-you-can-eat buffets.” He says his wake-up call came when his nephew asked him why he didn’t do something to change - and he decided he would. He started by attending a class that taught him how to eat properly, and introduced exercise into his life. After the class, he chose 24 Hour Fitness as his ‘new workout home.’ Over the next two years, he steadily dropped weight, gained strength, and started riding a road bike. Since then, he’s ridden 1200 miles in club rides and sponsored events, and he’s currently training to be a certified cycle instructor for 24 Hour Fitness. What’s the best thing about his transformation? “The confidence I gained from getting myself back in shape.”
